Free written quote (yes, actually free):
- Whole-house repiping

- Fixture install when you supply the fixture (we are quoting labor)
- Commercial maintenance plan setup walkthrough
- Permit scope and timeline for a planned project
- Pre-buy sewer camera inspection — flat-rate but ends with no obligation; often homebuyers get this as a free quote embedded in a slightly larger package
Diagnostic fee (paid, but credited to the job if you approve same-day):
- Service call for an unknown-cause problem (slow drain, hot water complaint, pressure issue)
- Leak detection — acoustic and thermal location of a hidden leak
- Sewer camera when the issue is "something is wrong but I don't know what"
- Troubleshoot a recurring failure another plumber could not fix
The reason: a diagnostic takes real on-site time, equipment, and expertise. If we spend 90 minutes finding your slab leak with acoustic equipment, that is a service we have delivered — even if we never do the repair. Pricing it at zero would mean subsidizing it with higher repair prices, which is dishonest to the people who do approve the work.
Our model: diagnostic fee is $75–$150 (South Bay range) or $150–$350 after hours. If you approve the recommended repair the same visit, the diagnostic fee is credited to the job.
What a "free written quote" actually looks like
For planned work — a repipe, a sewer replacement, a tankless install, a softener — we come on-site, measure, inspect, and hand you a written quote. The quote itemizes:
- Scope description (what is being replaced, where)
- Materials (specific brand and model where applicable)
- Labor
- Permit fee (and who pulls it — us)
- Access and disposal (haul-away included)
- Testing (pressure test, inspection)
- Warranty terms (1 year on repairs, up to 10 years on full-system installs)
- Financing options if applicable
- Exclusions (what is NOT included — e.g., wall paint and texture match are usually your painter's scope)
The quote is good for 30 days typically. You take it home, compare, decide. No pressure.

A diagnostic leak-detection visit is $200–$600 depending on scope. The fee is credited to the job if we do the repair.
What some national chains advertise as "free leak detection" is usually one of two things:
